McKenzie Farmers Market Tomato Festival

The McKenzie Farmers Market Tomato Festival will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 16th and all things tomatoes will be celebrated.

Several tomato-related activities will be held including a contest for Largest Tomato, Weirdest Looking Tomato and Best Tasting Tomato.

They also will have tomato recipes to sample, special “tomato splats” for the first 25 children, and of course lots of tomatoes.

The recent rains have helped local gardens and the produce vendors have an abundance of peas, okra, corn, green beans, watermelons, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, squash, green peppers, onions, and more. Organizers said, “We had some disappointed shoppers last week because this fresh produce sells out early, so arrive early to make sure you’re not left out.”

You can also take home some great relishes, jams, jellies, and pickles at the Farmers Market and they also have delicious breads, rolls, cakes, pies, and candies, beautiful hand crafted crocheted toys, baby clothes, candles, published books by a local author, sign décor, pillows, and pictures. Children love the surprise balls. Each one is full of fun toys for boys and girls.

The McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon (or until vendors sell out), and it is open Tuesdays from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. It is located across the street from City Hall.
